Kid Lab in schools

I (Shannon) recently had the joy of spending the week with 4th and 5th graders at Wakefield Elementary school and it was truly a delight! I got to work with 180 kids to put together a giant coral reef made from recycled materials. We spent the week talking about the devastating process known as coral bleaching, adversely affecting reef systems all over the world, and we discussed how we can be good global citizens by doing simple things like reducing waste, reusing, and recycling. This is one of my very favorite projects to do with schools because it stresses the importance of caring for our environment and each other.

Below is a time lapse video for students to get a peek at how I assembled our project. (If only I could work this fast in real time, ha!)
