Spreading Holiday Cheer: {DIY} Colorful Corsage Tutorial
December is the traditional season of giving, although we at Kid Lab like to share that spirit all year long. Each month, Kid Lab offers play therapy sessions to patients, siblings, and their families at WakeMed Children’s Hospital.
We provide simple hands-on activities and play therapy to help kids get their minds off being in a hospital. We also pack play kits that can be handed out to patients throughout the month (the kits are primarily made using donated materials!).
Want to create a pick-me-up for someone in your life? One of our favorite projects is making these colorful corsages using coffee filters. Bonus: they never fade or wilt!
To make a corsage at home:
Using markers, color on your coffee filter.
Place coffee filter on a tray and spray 4-6 times with water. Watch colors begin to bleed into each other. Let dry.
Fold in half, then again. Repeat.
Staple multiple folded filters together at base. Twist and add a pipe cleaner stem.
To join in the spirit of giving, visit our giving page, where you can make a monetary or material contribution to fund play kits and programming for patients at the children’s hospital. We operate as a nonprofit, which means we rely heavily on material and dollar donations. Each donation is put to good use as we work with hundreds of children and families.
