Let’s Celebrate: Kid Lab is moving to Downtown Raleigh!

Kid Labbers,

I’m thrilled to announce that Kid Lab is moving downtown!  From our new HQ in the heart of Raleigh, we’ll be able to bring you more labs, more community collaborations, and more book-ish fun. We can’t wait for you to see the new programming we’ve got up our sleeves!

But first, put this on your calendar: August 31st from 2-4, we’re celebrating in our new space. Hope you’ll join us! Cookies, crafts, and prizes--oh my!

We’ve got more details coming soon. But first, I want to address some Kid Lab logistics for our regulars, who are no doubt bursting with questions. Ready? Here we go!

Why 111 E Hargett St?

There are so many reasons we’re excited about this new spot, but here are our top three:

  1. Location: Our new space puts us in the heart of Raleigh, just steps from Marbles and the newly renovated Moore Square. This puts Kid Lab on the map as a must-see stop when families are downtown.

  2. Community: Kid Lab was born out of a desire for community--with other families, with local organizations, and with playful learners around the globe.  Over the last year, we’ve nurtured wonderful local partnerships. Being in a more central locale allows us to do that more and better. We can’t wait!

  3. Books, books, and more  books!: Kid Lab *loves* to nerd out.  We’re always reading, pulling out references, and checking out stacks (dare I say trunkloads?) of books from the library.  So it’s only fitting that Kid Lab landed in a darling children’s book shop. (Oh and Christine Brenner, RWM shop owner? We’re big fans ;)

Where will I park?

Raleigh is growing and downtown is thriving--good news for us all! But it can make parking your car a bit daunting, especially with little people in tow.  There are plentiful parking options at the new location. A kid lab specific parking map is coming your way soon!

Will the move affect the ‘Kid Lab magic?’

Because jump photos are magical ;)

Because jump photos are magical ;)

Some of you only know us from our Assembly pop-ups.  Other only known us from a festival or public event. Still others only know us as a small studio overlooking a peaceful  lake and tucked in a quiet East Raleigh neighborhood.. In each scenario, we’ve heard parents say their Kid Lab experience was “memorable” and “magical.”  Change is hard; no doubt about it. But we have a hunch this new space--so in line with the spirit of Kid Lab--may prove even more “‘magical” than ever before.

Do you have a team helping with the move?

Yes! Listen,  I’m biased...but I work with some of the raddest people on the planet.  Each Kid Lab team member is a creative genius, loves working with kids, and whole-heartedly believes in our mission of bringing playful learning experiences to kids and their grownups.  They also might be part-unicorn (ok, not really, but each team member carries a part of the ‘magic’ that makes Kid Lab, Kid Lab.) And of course, you are also helping out--by showing up, digging in, and supporting pay-what-you-can playful learning.  We’re so glad to have you on board!

Kid Labbers, you can’t see the smile on my face right now, so hear this: it’s with a full heart that I share this latest news. This new space means I can bring you more playful learning, welcome more creative tinkering, and inspire more imagination. And I just. can’t. wait. But our new space won’t be complete until you’re in it. So sign up for a September class—quick, before they fill up!--and we’ll see you soon. Thanks, Kid Labbers, for giving us so much to celebrate!
